Scandal Erupts at TCS Nashik Unit: Allegations of Sexual Harassment and Forced Conversion Rock IT Giant
Police Arrest Eight in Multi-FIR Case at TCS Nashik Unit
A Special Investigation Team of Nashik police has registered nine FIRs following allegations of sexual harassment and attempts at forcible religious conversion at the Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) unit in Nashik. The investigation has led to the arrest of eight individuals. These extensive charges surface serious concerns regarding misconduct within the corporate environment. The charges are rooted in a complaint filed by a victim woman, detailing a pattern of behavior that began years ago. The victim alleged that the accused, with the help of other colleagues, created a high-pressure environment. The matter signals a serious breach of workplace conduct standards at the major IT services company.
Accusations Detail Concealment and Coercion Tactics
The complaint alleges that the accused concealed his prior marriage while establishing a physical relationship with the victim against her wishes in August 2024. The allegations escalated when the victim discovered that the accused was married with two children in February 2026, information obtained through his wife.Upon confronting him, the accused allegedly admitted he had no intention of marrying her. The harassment went further, according to the complainant, who stated that the accused and two other colleagues frequently made derogatory remarks about Hindu deities.
The trio allegedly made objectionable comments about worshipping 'Shivalinga' and made insulting remarks concerning Draupadi of the Mahabharat. Crucially, the complaint detailed continuous pressure to convert to Islam, with the accused claiming the religion was superior.
Legal Proceedings and Corporate Response Surface
Police have invoked several sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita in the case, including 68 (sexual intercourse achieved through deceitful means), 75 (sexual harassment), and 299 (hurting religious sentiments). Furthermore, there are eight other FIRs related to similar allegations of harassment and forcible religious conversion at the Nashik unit.In a separate legal development, Nida Khan, one of the accused, filed a pre-arrest bail plea, citing her pregnancy and denying the charges. Separately, a court extended the police remand of co-accused Raza Memon (35) and Shafi Sheikh (36) till April 20.
The allegations have prompted a response from TCS. The company stated that a preliminary review of its records indicated it had not received complaints of the nature currently being alleged through its ethics or POSH (prevention of sexual harassment) channels.
Corporate Governance and Official Intervention
Despite the official clarification, TCS announced an oversight panel and the engagement of external entities to conduct its internal probe. The company reiterated its zero-tolerance policy toward any form of misconduct or coercion. On a broader level, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis held a high-level meeting of the home department. Officials confirmed he ordered a comprehensive investigation into the TCS case, asserting that incidents like forcible religious conversion will not be tolerated.
A Nashik Police Crime Branch team is currently positioned in Mumbra in Thane district to track down Nida Khan. The legal teams involved are actively disputing the charges, as the lawyer for Nida Khan stated that she could not be accused of outraging the modesty of another woman.
