TCS Suspends Employees Following Multiple FIRs in Nashik Harassment Probe

Tata Consultancy Services Acts on Serious Allegations at Nashik Unit​

Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has suspended employees currently under investigation concerning the controversy at its Nashik unit. The IT major confirmed its full cooperation with the authorities investigating the matter. TCS reiterated its unwavering zero-tolerance stance regarding any form of harassment or coercion within its ranks.

Genesis of the Controversy: Multiple FIRs Filed​

The scrutiny surrounding the company stems from multiple First Information Reports (FIRs) registered in Nashik. These complaints pertain to alleged incidents involving sexual harassment and issues related to religious conversion. A total of nine FIRs have reportedly been filed in connection with the escalating situation.

The initial controversy surfaced in March. Reports indicate that the matter began when a woman alleged a physical relationship with a colleague, claiming it was based on a false promise of marriage. This initial complaint reportedly triggered a broader police investigation.

Expanding Scope: Further Allegations Uncovered​

During the course of the police investigation, additional complaints were brought to light. This led to the filing of eight further FIRs, all related to allegations similar to the original complaint.

In response to the escalating reports, TCS issued an official statement detailing its immediate actions. The company confirmed that employees under investigation have been suspended pending the outcome of the ongoing inquiry.

Law Enforcement Escalates Action in Nashik Case​

Law enforcement action has intensified as the investigation proceeds. At least six employees have been arrested in connection with the case so far. These arrests were reportedly executed based on intelligence inputs received by the Nashik Police Commissioner’s office.

To ensure a comprehensive probe, a Special Investigation Team (SIT) has been constituted by authorities. The police have also reportedly questioned a human resources official who is based in Pune.

State Leaders Note Gravity of Developments​

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has taken note of the developments, labeling the matter as "very serious." He publicly commended the Nashik police department for their prompt and decisive response to the situation.

The investigation remains active, with authorities expected to initiate further steps once the findings from the SIT are compiled. TCS stated clearly that any further action taken by the company will be determined based on the outcome of this ongoing probe.
