
Amid TCS Nashik Harassment Crisis, Nasscom Vows Zero Tolerance as Tata Orders Major Probe

The industry body stated that governance frameworks are strict and maintain unequivocal standards for workplace conduct.According to Nasscom, any instance of misconduct or harassment is handled with the highest degree of seriousness. "Any such incident is isolated in nature and does not reflect a systemic pattern within the industry," Nasscom affirmed. The body confirmed that employee safety and well-being remain non-negotiable priorities for the entire sector.
Tata Sons Launches Thorough Investigation into Allegations
The controversy prompted a high-level response from Tata Sons chairman N Chandrasekaran. On Monday, Mr. Chandrasekaran termed the sexual harassment allegations at TCS Nashik as "gravely concerning and anguishing."He announced that a thorough investigation into the matter is currently underway. This probe is being conducted under TCS' Chief Operating Officer, Arathi Subramanian, to accurately establish the facts.
Mr. Chandrasekaran, who previously led TCS as chief executive and managing director, emphasized the group's stance. He reiterated that the group maintains a "zero-tolerance policy" towards any form of coercion or misconduct by its employees.
Company Initiates Action Against Accused Personnel
Mr. Chandrasekaran stated that immediate action has already been initiated against the accused employees involved in the incident. The company further pledged its full cooperation to the ongoing internal and external investigations.The chairman assured stakeholders that stringent and appropriate action will be taken against all employees found guilty. He also noted that process improvements and corrective measures would be promptly implemented and strictly enforced across the organization.
Police Action Confirms Serious Complaint Pattern
The severity of the allegations prompted external intervention from law enforcement. Last week, the police formed a special investigation team (SIT) to probe the complaints.The SIT was established following the lodging of complaints by the eight employees. They claimed they had been subjected to both mental and sexual harassment by senior colleagues, and that the human resources department had ignored their reports.
Authorities confirmed subsequent action, reporting that they had arrested seven people, which included the company’s female HR manager.
