Mumbai, Apr 13 - Tata Sons Chairman N Chandrasekaran addressed the grave misconduct allegations emerging from the Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) Nashik branch. He described the situation as "gravely concerning and anguishing," announcing an immediate, high-level internal investigation into the matters.

The Chairman confirmed that a thorough inquiry has been launched, specifically under the leadership of TCS' Chief Operating Officer, Arathi Subramanian. This deep dive aims to establish all facts and identify the individuals responsible for the deeply troubling situation.

Senior Executive Launches Probe Following Harassment Claims​

The allegations at the multinational company’s Maharashtra office detail claims of sexual harassment and forced religious conversion. These severe complaints were raised by eight female employees who worked at the facility.

In his statement, Chandrasekaran emphasized the seriousness with which the entire group is treating the incident. He assured stakeholders that action has already been initiated against the employees accused of misconduct.

Allegations Involve Misconduct and External Investigations​

The distress situation escalated last week when police formed a special investigation team (SIT) to look into the complaints. The employees claimed that senior colleagues had subjected them to mental and sexual harassment, and they alleged that the internal human resources department had failed to respond adequately.

External authorities have since taken significant action, with police reportedly arresting seven individuals, including the company's female HR manager.

Tata Group Reaffirms Zero-Tolerance Stance​

TCS initially affirmed its strong commitment to zero tolerance regarding harassment and coercion. The company stated it took swift action upon learning of the matter in Nashik, and various staff members have been suspended.

Chandrasekaran reiterated that the entire salts-to-software group maintains an absolute zero-tolerance policy. This policy governs any form of misconduct or coercion by the organization's employees.

The group stated that stringent action will be taken against all individuals found guilty during the ongoing investigation. Furthermore, TCS committed to promptly implementing and strictly enforcing process improvements and other necessary corrective measures across its operations.
