New Delhi, India: South Korean giant Samsung has reiterated its deep commitment to India's growth story, framing innovation and education as critical catalysts for national progress and social inclusion. The company announced a substantial increase in its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) investment for the upcoming years.Samsung’s Southwest Asia Corporate Vice President, SP Chun, emphasized that the company views skills development as a primary mechanism for translating potential into meaningful, large-scale impact. This focus positions the company to actively support India's journey toward a self-reliant digital economy.
Scaling CSR Commitments for a Sustainable Future
In a statement, Samsung noted its three-decade journey in the Indian market. The company has significantly bolstered its philanthropic efforts, increasing its CSR commitment to Rs 193.89 crore for 2025-26. This represents a noticeable rise from the Rs 144.48 crore allocated for 2024-25.Overall, Samsung has leveraged its initiatives to benefit an estimated 15 lakh people through its citizenship programs. The corporate leadership aims to nurture a generation of young innovators capable of tackling complex societal challenges.
Boosting Digital Skills Through Flagship Programs
The core of Samsung’s strategy lies in accelerating private-sector youth skilling. Over the past three years, the company has implemented a robust portfolio of interconnected programs, covering the full journey from academic learning to career placement.A key pillar is the Samsung Innovation Campus (SIC). For the 2025-26 cycle, the company has earmarked a dedicated budget of Rs 77.25 crore for SIC. This flagship program trains young participants across critical technological domains, including Artificial Intelligence (AI), Internet of Things (IoT), Big Data, and advanced coding.
Since launching SIC in 2022, the initiative has successfully trained 6,500 students. The commitment remains strong, with 3,500 students certified in 2024 alone, marking a 17 per cent surge in certifications compared to the prior year.
Focus on Inclusion and Structural Contribution
The scope of Samsung’s impact has rapidly expanded. Last year, the company reported scaling the program six-fold, reaching 20,000 students across ten states. A notable focus across these initiatives is gender inclusion in the syllabus. The participation rates demonstrate this commitment, with women accounting for 48 per cent of participants pan-India, a percentage that rose to over 70 per cent in Tamil Nadu. These efforts are channeled through various initiatives, including Samsung Solve for Tomorrow and the Samsung Smart Healthcare programme.
Stating that its ambition in India is "structural," Samsung highlighted that its most durable contribution will not be measured by the volume of devices sold. Instead, it is measured by the "capabilities built for a country standing at a demographic tipping point."
