
Appellate Authority Confirms GST Demand Against Bajaj Electricals Limited; Company Assesses Legal Recourse
Bajaj Electricals Limited has received an adverse appellate order confirming a Goods and Services Tax (GST) demand originally issued by the GST Authority. The assessment related to disallowances of GST Input Tax Credit for Financial Year 2020-21.The order, received from the Office of the Commissioner (Appeals), Customs, CGST & Central Excise, Lucknow, dismissed the appeal submitted by the company and upheld the initial demand raised by the GST Authority.
The original assessment that led to the dispute included a gross demand amounting to Rs. 10.95 crore, which encompassed a penalty amount of Rs. 0.99 crore. This matter had been previously communicated regarding a final assessment order issued on February 27, 2025.
In response to the appellate order, management is currently evaluating all appropriate legal remedies available under the law. These options include filing an appeal before the appropriate appellate tribunal and/or initiating writ proceedings before the Hon'ble High Court against the determination.
The company stated that if the Appeal Order materializes in its full extent, the financial impact will be limited to the amount of the demand raised and the penalty levied under the order. Bajaj Electricals Limited added that there is no impact on the operational, financial, or other activities of the company resulting from this assessment or appeal determination.
