Bajaj Electricals Limited Receives Adverse Appeal Order, Upholding GST Demand of Rs. 1.16 Crore

Bajaj Electricals Limited announced an update regarding a tax demand dispute stemming from an assessment order issued by the Assistant Commissioner of Sales Tax, Kotwali, Bihar. The company confirmed receipt of an adverse appeal order from the Appellate Authority, upholding the original demand of Rs. 1.16 crore.

The dispute originated from an assessment order dated May 25, 2023, issued by the GST Authority. This order raised a total demand of Rs. 1.16 crore, which included a general penalty of Rs. 39.58 lakh. The demand related to an alleged disallowance of transitional credit availed in 'Form Tran 1'.

The company had previously appealed the order before the Office of the Commissioner (Appeals) of Customs, CGST & Central Excise, Patna, Bihar.

On April 16, 2026, Bajaj Electricals Limited received the Appeal Order dated March 30, 2026. The Appellate Authority rejected the company's appeal and upheld the impugned order. Under the new ruling, the total demand remains Rs. 1.16 crore, which now incorporates a general penalty of Rs. 39.68 lakh.

Bajaj Electricals Limited stated that the management is currently evaluating appropriate legal options. These potential options include filing an appeal before the appropriate appellate tribunal and/or filing a writ petition before the Hon'ble High Court against the recent Appeal Order.

The company assessed that the financial impact, should the Appeal Order materialize, would be limited strictly to the demand raised and the penalty levied under the order. Bajaj Electricals Limited added that the order poses no impact on the operational, financial, or other activities of the company.
