TCS Secures Massive Tech Deal to Build Digital Backbone for JFK's New Terminal One

Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has been named the technology and innovation partner for New Terminal One at John F. Kennedy (JFK) International Airport in New York. This significant contract marks another large-scale infrastructure transformation deal for India's leading IT services company. TCS will be responsible for building the entire digital backbone of the new international terminal.

Scope of TCS Partnership at JFK Airport

Under this high-profile partnership, TCS will deploy advanced solutions across multiple facets of airport operations. The scope includes supporting passenger processing systems and infrastructure management. Furthermore, the company is set to enhance the traveller experience by deploying AI-powered solutions.

The service agreement covers enterprise application support and critical cybersecurity services. This partnership enables the new terminal to operate as a digitally integrated hub. TCS's Travel, Transport and Hospitality (TTH) business division will be executing this transformation project.

Transforming JFK: The Broader Airport Overhaul

New Terminal One is part of the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey’s $19-billion overhaul plan for JFK Airport. This massive modernization project encompasses much more than just one terminal.

The overall transformation includes the construction of two new terminals. It also involves expanding and modernizing two existing terminals. A significant component is the creation of a new ground transportation centre alongside a redesigned roadway network.

AI and Digital Ecosystems at the New Terminal One

TCS will leverage its specialized Cognix and ignio platforms to achieve proactive monitoring of all airport operations. This technology implementation is designed to improve overall efficiency for the airport. Airlines are expected to benefit directly from these advancements, leading to reduced operating costs.

Amit Bajaj, President of North America at TCS, provided insight into this shift. He stated that airports are rapidly evolving into digitally connected consumer ecosystems. These hubs seamlessly converge operations, retail, and hospitality services. Artificial intelligence is key to delivering a seamless passenger journey in this next-generation experiential hub.

Industry Leaders on Airport Digital Evolution

Jennifer Aument, CEO of The New Terminal One, emphasized the standard being set by the project. She stated that global travelers deserve an extraordinary international airport terminal experience. With TCS as their technology partner, the New Terminal One aims to achieve a transformational guest experience for its partner airlines and customers.

This deal reflects TCS's ongoing expansion into large-scale transformation globally. AI-led modernization and digital infrastructure have emerged as critical growth areas for the company. The partnership reinforces TCS’s capability in handling complex infrastructural digital demands worldwide.
