TCS and ABB Ink Multi-Million, Multi-Year Deal to Transform Global Network Operations with AI

Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has announced an expanded collaboration with ABB, a global technology leader in electrification and automation, to transform ABB's global network operations. This engagement marks the next phase of a trusted 20-year partnership between the two companies. The multi-million, multi-year deal involves TCS scaling its role beyond infrastructure and applications management to delivering end-to-end global network operations through an integrated network-as-a-service model.

TCS will assist ABB in enhancing operational efficiency, strengthening security and compliance, improving user experience, and preparing for next-generation digital operations across the organization. The initiative is centered around ABB's Future Network Model program, an enterprise wide effort to transform its global network into a standardized, centrally managed digital infrastructure. As a strategic programme partner, TCS will design, integrate, and operate ABB's global network ecosystem as a secure, modern, and AI-driven service.

The programme aims to replace fragmented network environments with a scalable, secure, servicedriven architecture. The central control framework for this initiative encompasses Service Integration and Management (SIAM), a dedicated global network operations center, advanced security capabilities, and modernization of local area network (LAN), wide area network (WAN), and software-defined WAN systems. TCS will also facilitate end-to-end monitoring and orchestration to ensure high-performance connectivity across ABB's services.

Alec Joannou, Group CIO at ABB, stated that the Future Network Model represents a key milestone in reinforcing the digital foundation of ABB's global operations. He noted that their association with TCS reflects a shared commitment to delivery excellence, continuous enhancement, and building capabilities aligned with strategic priorities as ABB evolves.

Anupam Singhal, President of Manufacturing at TCS, commented on the partnership, emphasizing that with AI embedded into the network operations model, supported by secure digital infrastructure and deep domain expertise, TCS is applying its 'infrastructure to intelligence' approach. This engagement will enable network systems capable of sensing, adapting, and improving continuously while strengthening reliability, security, user experience, and scale for ABB.

Over the past two decades, the collaboration between TCS and ABB has included several transformational programmes that have reinforced ABB's technology foundation. These initiatives include consolidating multiple Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems into a unified SAP platform and accelerating cloud transformation and adoption.
