Power Grid Corporation of India Limited has been named the successful bidder in a Tariff Based Competitive Bidding (TBCB) process. The company secured the contract to establish an Inter-State Transmission System crucial for integrating renewable energy projects within Gujarat.The project, titled 'Transmission system for Integration of Power from RE Projects in Jam Khambhaliya REZ in Gujarat - Phase II (5500MW) and Jamnagar Phase-I (1000 MW),' was awarded on a Build, Own, Operate and Transfer (BOOT) basis. Power Grid received the Letter of Intent (LoI) for the project on August 21, 2026, with a discovered tariff set at Rs. 822.91 crore per annum.
The scope of work involves significant infrastructure development within Gujarat. Key components include:
- Establishment of a new GIS substation located in Kalyanpur (Gujarat).
- Conducting ICT augmentation and bay extension works at several under-construction substations across the state of Gujarat.
- Constructing 765 kV transmission lines that will traverse the entire state of Gujarat.
The successful bid positions Power Grid to play a critical role in scaling up renewable energy integration by providing dedicated high voltage infrastructure for major projects.
