Quantum Mutual Fund Launches Flexi Cap Scheme to Capture 'Profit Pool Shifts' Amid India's Structural Transformation

Quantum Mutual Fund has successfully introduced the Quantum Flexi Cap Fund, a new dynamic equity scheme designed to capitalize on structural changes sweeping through the Indian economy. This open-ended fund will employ a research-led, bottom-up approach, investing across large-cap, mid-cap, and small-cap stocks. The New Fund Offer (NFO) for this venture is currently live, running from August 21 and set to conclude on September 4th.

The investment philosophy underpinning the fund is rooted in a Growth at a Reasonable Price (GARP) framework. Quantum has identified these structural shifts as "Profit Pool Shifts," which are fundamentally redefining how value and profits are distributed across various industry value chains. These critical market shifts may be driven by new technology, regulatory changes, or evolving consumer preferences.

Focus on Business Quality and Valuation Disciplines

The investment process for the Quantum Flexi Cap Fund places a heavy emphasis on intrinsic business quality before considering valuation metrics. The fund seeks to identify companies with genuine growth potential alongside sustainable business models. Furthermore, it will rigorously assess aspects like management capability, corporate governance, and the stability of earnings.

Quantum aims to ensure investments are made in high-quality businesses that are available at reasonable valuations. Crucially, the investment team has built in a mechanism to reduce exposure if any asset's valuation becomes excessive, maintaining risk discipline throughout the cycle.

Capturing Structural Shifts Driven by Macro Trends

Chirag Mehta, Chief Investment Officer and fund manager at Quantum, commented on the launch, noting that India is undergoing profound structural transformations. These shifts are being catalyzed by rising consumer aspirations, technological disruption, policy reforms, and the increasing formalisation of the economy.

Mehta stated that these continuous trends are fundamentally reshaping industry profit pools, thereby generating significant new investment opportunities. The fund is strategically designed to identify these specific structural changes through deep fundamental research and invest proactively in superior businesses.

Fund Mandate and Investment Details

The Quantum Flexi Cap Fund will manage its exposure across market capitalisations based on observed growth potential and relative valuations. The fund’s official benchmark has been set at the BSE 500 TRI.

The portfolio will be managed by Chirag Mehta, alongside Ketan Gujarathi, who serves as the Equity Fund Manager. Seemant Shukla, CEO of Quantum AMC, highlighted that the launch underscores the firm's commitment to building robust investment capabilities before introducing new products.

Quantum Expands Distribution Footprint with New Offering

Shukla mentioned that this fund represents a carefully planned introduction into the market, nearly two years after their last NFO. He assured that the Fund is designed specifically to deliver meaningful value back to investors' portfolios. The NFO also serves as an opportunity for Quantum AMC to strengthen its ecosystem and expand its distribution footprint across the industry.

The investment access starts at a minimum of Rs 500, with subsequent investments possible in multiples of Rs 1. The fund is scheduled to reopen for continuous sale and repurchase beginning on September 11th.
