
HCLFoundation Partners with Uttar Pradesh Government to Advance Sustainable Waste Management in Three Cities
HCLFoundation, which drives the corporate social responsibility agenda of HCLTech in India, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Urban Development Department, Government of Uttar Pradesh. This partnership aims to further the state's vision of advancing sustainable waste management practices across Hardoi, Prayagraj, and Agra in line with the Swachh Bharat Mission.Through this collaboration, HCLFoundation and the Urban Development Department will work together on strategic planning, pilot projects, policy and process reforms, and the deployment of IT-enabled solutions designed to improve waste management systems across the three specified cities.
The initiative falls under HCLFoundation's My Clean City program. In Hardoi, the Foundation recently donated 10 E-drain carts and 10 Egarbage loaders to the Hardoi Nagar Palika Parishad, along with unveiling three reverse vending machines. Furthermore, HCLFoundation is committed to city beautification in Hardoi through wall art and plans to develop three markets and three wards in the area as model centers.
Alok Varma, Project Director of Samuday and My Clean City at HCLFoundation, stated that "My Clean City is a citizen-led program aimed at reclaiming urban spaces with a focus on technology inclusion and innovative solutions. This partnership with the Urban Development Department, U.P., will further strengthen our efforts, especially in Agra, Hardoi and Prayagraj—three new cities to which we expanded the program in FY26."
Anuj Kumar Jha (IAS), Secretary of the Urban Development Department and State Mission Director for Swachh Bharat Mission (Urban) in Uttar Pradesh, emphasized that the partnership is crucial for state goals. He noted, "The Department envisions building cleaner, healthier, and sustainable cities across the state through collaborative action. This partnership with HCLFoundation brings together institutional strength and implementation expertise which will help accelerate urban sanitation efforts, strengthen waste management practices, and create innovative models that will inspire urban transformation in Agra, Hardoi and Prayagraj."
