Defence Order Boosts Share Price as Zen Technologies Climbs
Zen Technologies saw a significant boost in its stock price on Tuesday, trading up by 2.5%. The Hyderabad-based defence electronics company rose to ₹1,762.50 in early trade. This positive movement follows the announcement of a substantial order from the Ministry of Defence.The order, which includes GST, amounts to Rs 295 crore. It was awarded by a domestic entity and signifies the allocation for supplying various simulators to the defence sector.
Q3 Results Show Profit Decline Amid Operational Challenges
Despite the positive impact of the new contract, the company recently disclosed challenging financial results from the last quarter ended June 30, 2026. Zen Technologies reported a decline in consolidated net profit for that quarter.Consolidated net profit fell to Rs 34.4 crore, representing a year-on-year decrease. This figure is down from the ₹48 crore recorded in the corresponding period of the previous year.
Revenue from operations also showed a downturn, declining by 10.5% year-on-year. Total revenue stood at Rs 141.6 crore, compared to Rs 158.2 crore in the prior year. EBITDA saw an even steeper fall, dropping by 40.2%.
Profitability and Margin Narrowing Detailed
The profitability metrics highlighted considerable strain on the company's operations during the reported period. EBITDA fell to Rs 38.7 crore. This reduction reflects a squeeze on the operational margins.Correspondingly, the EBITDA margin narrowed significantly to 27.3%. This is down from 40.9% recorded in the year-ago reporting period.
Board Extends Timeline for QIP Funds Utilization
Separately, the board of Zen Technologies approved an extension regarding its Qualified Institutional Placement (QIP) funds. The timeline for utilizing the unutilised balance of these funds was extended by 24 months.The original deadline was August 23, 2026. This date has been moved to August 22, 2028.
Zen Technologies stated that this extension applies specifically to funds earmarked for inorganic growth opportunities. It also covers acquisitions, strategic initiatives, and general corporate purposes.
Clarification on QIP Funds Extension
The company reassured stakeholders that there is no change regarding the objects of the issue or the proposed utilization of the QIP proceeds. The alteration pertains only to the timeline within which these funds must be utilized.The extension provides additional time for Zen Technologies to execute its planned strategic and growth initiatives leveraging the QIP proceeds.
