Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited (TPREL) has commissioned its 190.5 MW Solar Firm and Dispatchable Renewable Energy (FDRE) project in Kalasar, Bikaner, Rajasthan. This project, which is part of a larger 460 MW FDRE initiative, marks a significant milestone in the integration of large-scale solar generation with advanced energy storage and grid support technologies in India.

The 190.5 MW project was developed under the SJVN FDRE Tranche-1 and is set to supply energy to several discoms, including Haryana Power Purchase Centre (HPPC), Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL), and Noida Power Company Limited (NPCL).

The project is designed not only for solar generation but also to strengthen grid reliability, incorporating a 115 MWhr advanced Battery Energy Storage System (BESS).

Execution Excellence and Technological Integration​

The commissioning of the project highlights TPREL's capacity for engineering excellence despite overcoming complex challenges, including compressed project timelines and global supply chain disruptions affecting the availability of transmission line materials and module mounting structures.

TPREL successfully adopted several new technologies in the project, including BESS, Harmonic Filter Bank, and Static Var Generator systems. Among the critical execution milestones were the completion of the switchyard within three months and the Harmonic Filter Bank within one month.

TPREL’s Renewable Capacity Update​

With the commissioning of this project, TPREL's total renewable utility capacity has reached 12.4 GW. The company reports that 6.9 GW of this capacity is currently operational, comprising 5.6 GW of solar and 1.3 GW of wind capacity. Furthermore, nearly 5.5 GW is currently under various stages of implementation and is expected to be commissioned in phases over the next 24 months.

The commitment to clean energy transition extends across the entire Tata Power Group. Tata Power Company Limited, a vertically integrated power company, reports that its total operational and under-construction capacity exceeds 26 GW.

The Group’s energy mix includes approximately 17.7 GW of clean and green energy capacity and around 8.8 GW of thermal generation capacity. Tata Power also maintains a strong transmission and distribution presence, managing over 7,800 circuit kilometres of transmission lines and serving more than 13 million customers.

To bolster future-ready energy solutions, the company has established 4.9 GW of integrated solar cell and module manufacturing capacity, signed 2.8 GW of pumped hydro storage projects, and expanded its EV charging network to over 7,000 public charging points across 717 cities and towns in India. Tata Power remains dedicated to achieving Net Zero by 2045.

Today, Tata Power Company Limited shares edged higher, settling at ₹374.4 after finishing the market session with a 0.03% gain. The stock traded a volume of approximately 2.30 million shares in today's trading.
