Tata Power Renewable Energy Commissions 100.8 MW Jewali Wind Project in Maharashtra

Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited (TPREL), a subsidiary of The Tata Power Company Limited, has successfully commissioned the 100.8 MW Jewali Wind Project in Dharashiv district, Maharashtra. This commissioning marks a significant step in TPREL's commitment to delivering large scale renewable energy and supporting its transition towards sustainable operations.

The electricity generated from the newly commissioned wind farm will be supplied to Tata Power Mumbai Distribution. The project is set to generate approximately 299 million units of clean electricity annually. Furthermore, it is expected to offset nearly 245 million kg of CO₂ emissions each year, based on an estimated emissions reduction of 0.82 kg of CO₂ per unit of electricity generated.

The wind project comprises 28 SG 3.6-145 Wind Turbine Generators, utilizing advanced horizontal axis wind turbine technology. This addition strengthens TPREL's growing renewable energy portfolio and reinforces its role in India's clean energy transition.

Portfolio Expansion and Capacity Details

With the inclusion of the Jewali Wind Project, TPREL’s total renewable utility capacity has reached 11.6 GW. This capacity breakdown includes 6.7 GW operational, comprising 5.4 GW of solar and 1.3 GW of wind power. The remaining 4.9 GW is under various stages of implementation across states including Rajasthan, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, and Tamil Nadu.

The pipeline continues to expand Tata Power’s commitment to clean energy generation. For the wind segment specifically, TPREL’s portfolio now exceeds 3.9 GW, with over 1.3 GW currently operational. The under-construction renewable projects include approximately 2.6 GW of wind and 2.1 GW of solar projects, expected for phased commissioning within the next 6 to 24 months.

Tata Power's Broader Energy Transition

The commissioned project advances the long term vision of achieving 100% clean energy generation by 2045 for Tata Power. This initiative complements the company’s expanding renewable energy focus, positioning it as a pioneer in India's clean energy transition.

Tata Power Company Limited, which is part of the Tata Group, has established significant capacity across the entire power value chain. The company boasts approximately 17.5 GW of clean and green energy capacity (including projects under construction) and around 8.9 GW of thermal generation capacity. This diversified portfolio ensures a balanced energy mix for its operations.

In addition to wind and solar, Tata Power has invested in future ready energy solutions, establishing 4.9 GW of integrated solar cell and module manufacturing capacity and signing 2.8 GW of pumped hydro storage projects. The company has also expanded its EV charging network to over 7,000 public charging points across 706 cities and towns in India.
