Pernia's Pop-Up Shop to Ignite Markets with Rs 660 Crore IPO Amid Luxury Sector Boom

Purple Style Labs, the parent company of Pernia's Pop-Up Shop, is poised to debut in public markets through a planned Rs 660 crore initial public offering (IPO). Sources indicate that the company is likely to launch this significant offer by the end of August. The move comes as the luxury fashion sector witnesses exponential growth in India.

The multi-brand luxury fashion platform has already filed its updated draft red herring prospectus (UDRHP) with markets regulator SEBI. Purple Style Labs had received initial approval for the IPO from SEBI earlier this year. This listing is set to mark the company's formal entry into the public sphere.

Financial Ascent Fuels IPO Ambitions

Purple Style Labs has demonstrated remarkable financial resilience and growth over the past few years. The company reported a more than 11-fold rise in revenue, skyrocketing from Rs 45 crore in FY20 to an impressive Rs 508 crore in FY24. This significant jump translates into an approximately 83 per cent compound annual growth rate (CAGR).

The digital platform currently boasts over 2 lakh products sourced from more than 1,300 designers. Furthermore, the company maintains 14 experience centers nationwide. The business's market reach is underlined by a gross merchandise value (GMV) exceeding Rs 588 crore in FY25, maintaining an average order value of Rs 56,106.

Capitalizing on Luxury Market Surge

The IPO timing strategically aligns with the strong momentum observed in India's wedding and luxury consumption markets. The nation's overall wedding industry has surpassed the Rs 10 lakh crore mark. Furthermore, the dedicated wedding-wear segment is projected to reach a massive Rs 3.4 lakh crore by FY30.

India's broader personal luxury market is also forecast to touch Rs 2.31 lakh crore in due course. This robust consumer environment provides fertile ground for Purple Style Labs’ continued expansion and brand visibility. The company is actively increasing its retail footprint, which includes the flagship Pernia's Pop-Up Studio at Fort in Mumbai.

Strategic Use of IPO Proceeds and Expansion Plans

The capital raised from the proposed issue will be earmarked for critical investments across various business segments. A portion of the proceeds will be dedicated to fulfilling lease liabilities for experience centers and back-end offices within India. Other funds will be deployed towards enhancing sales and marketing efforts. The remaining corpus is allocated for general corporate purposes.

Purple Style Labs has established a strong international presence alongside its domestic operations. Its current retail expansion includes an experience center on Linking Road in Mumbai and an overseas outlet located on Madison Avenue in New York.

Institutional Backing and Market Visibility

The company is backed by a prestigious roster of institutional investors, family offices, and private investors. Promoted by Abhishek Agarwal, who holds a 27.10 per cent stake in the company, Purple Style Labs commands significant celebrity investor support. Publicly disclosed investors include Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan and his family, Sachin Tendulkar, Madhuri Dixit, and Mahesh Babu.

Axis Capital Ltd and IIFL Capital Services Ltd are the designated bankers for the IPO issue. The market closely awaits this debut which is set to introduce a powerhouse of luxury retail into the public domain.
