NIFTEM Enters Landmark MoU with Massey University to Boost Food Technology​

The National Institute of Food Technology Entrepreneurship and Management, Kundli (NIFTEM-K), has formally signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Massey University in New Zealand. This strategic agreement aims to substantially strengthen academic and research cooperation across several critical domains.

The signing ceremony took place on July 2, 2026, attended by various officials including Secretary MoFPI Shri A. P. Das Joshi and Joint Secretary Shri Devesh Deval. The MoU was executed in the presence of a senior team from NIFTEM-K led by Director Dr Harinder Singh Oberoi.

Scope of Collaborative Research Projects​

The partnership is designed to create significant opportunities for innovation and knowledge exchange in the food sector. Areas of cooperation include collaborative research projects and joint applications for third-party funding.

Furthermore, the MoU covers academic growth through faculty and researcher exchange programmes. It also includes student mobility programmes and mutual participation in relevant seminars and academic meetings.

Strengthening Food Processing Innovation​

This collaboration is set to provide extensive opportunities for the students, researchers, and faculty members of both institutions. The agreement focuses heavily on enhancing innovation within food technology and processing methods.

Dedicated coordinators from both NIFTEM-K and Massey University have been assigned to facilitate the practical implementation of all collaborative initiatives. This joint focus aims to promote international academic cooperation at a high level.

Agreement Duration and Intellectual Property Safeguards​

The MoU is structured as a non-binding framework, fostering long-term future academic partnerships. It specifically safeguards the intellectual property rights (IP) of both signatory parties involved in the research.

The agreement will remain valid for five years from the date of the last signature. By mutual consent, it can be extended for an additional five-year term, ensuring sustained global collaboration.
