These agreements are set to cement India and France as critical partners in advanced technological domains, from artificial intelligence governance to deep space exploration.

Accelerating Technological Innovation and AI Governance​

The partnership aims to build cutting-edge capabilities by focusing on both academic research and applied industry solutions. A key outcome was the adoption of an ambitious India-France Innovation Roadmap 2030, designed to guide future technological advancements in both nations.

To institutionalize collaborative efforts, a Joint India-France AI Working Group was created, specifically mandated to focus on critical issues related to AI governance. Further bolstering research infrastructure, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed for establishing a National Centre of Excellence at NSTI, Kanpur, dedicated to skilling in Aeronautics and Allied Sectors.

Between the Department of Science and Technology (DST) and Institut National de Recherche en Sciences et Technologies du Numérique (INRIA), a crucial Centre of Digital Sciences will be established. Furthermore, an ICCR India Chair on "AI, Innovation and Culture" was set up at Universite Paris-Saclay, recognizing the cultural dimension of technology development.

Boosting Trade and Economic Security​

A significant focus of the visit was realizing bilateral economic growth and strengthening supply chain resilience. A high-level Mechanism for realizing the goal of doubling bilateral trade in the next five years was established, building upon existing Economic and Financial Dialogue platforms.

To ensure stable economic footing, an Economic Security Dialogue was institutionally launched. In the realm of digital commerce, expanded possibilities were discussed for utilizing India's real-time payment system, Unified Payments Interface (UPI), within France. This expansion aims to streamline cross-border financial transactions between both nations.

Strengthening Strategic and Space Cooperation​

Deepening security ties, a General Security Agreement was signed covering the Exchange and Protection of Classified Information. This agreement solidifies the defense cooperation between India and France at the highest level.

The commitment to future human space exploration was highlighted through an MoU between ISRO and CNES. This collaboration specifically targets microgravity research, marking a strategic step in both nations' advancement in space technology.

Key Bilateral Initiatives Summary​

Beyond these high-level agreements, several focused initiatives were also announced during the visit:

The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) established a Letter of Intent with the Health Data Hub of France to advance medical data cooperation.

For emerging entrepreneurship, 10 additional Indian startups will be incubated at Station F in France.

A Declaration of Intent on Cooperation regarding Railway and High-speed Railway Development in India was also signed, underlining commitments to national infrastructure enhancement.
