NALCO Shares Climb as Company Joins Forces to Build 1080 MW Captive Power Plant in Odisha

National Aluminium Company (NALCO) is set to be a key focus for investors following the signing of a significant Joint Venture-cum-Shareholders' Agreement (JVA). This agreement sees NALCO partnering with NLC India to develop a large-scale 1,080 MW thermal captive power plant in Angul, Odisha. The collaboration highlights a strategic move towards securing and expanding energy supply infrastructure.

Strategic Partnership Unlocks Mega Power Project

Under the terms of the JVA, both NALCO and NLC India will hold an equal 50 percent stake in the newly formed joint venture company. This partnership is designed to ensure robust power generation capability for future industrial needs.

The project involves a long-term commitment structure that provides financial stability. A crucial element of the agreement is a 25-year Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with NALCO. This PPA guarantees that NALCO will receive 100 percent of the power generated by the plant.

Furthermore, NLC India has committed to supplying coal under a long-term fuel supply agreement. This commitment ensures continuous operation, with the fuel being supplied at Coal India notified prices. The combined effort aims to establish a self-sufficient and sustainable energy source.

NALCO Stock Performance and Market Standing

NALCO demonstrated solid performance in the previous trading session, closing at Rs 349.75. This represented a gain of Rs 7.25, or 2.12 percent for the stock. The company's financial stability is underscored by its substantial market capitalization, which stands at Rs 64,236.20 crore.

The stock has demonstrated resilience across various periods. It touched a 52-week high of Rs 445.10 and hit a low of Rs 180.10 during the recorded period. Currently, NALCO is trading at a position that is 94.2 percent above its 52-week low but remains 21.42 percent below its high.
