Minda Corporation shares remain under intense focus as the market awaits details following the announcement of a significant joint venture (JV) with a UK-based firm. The partnership is designed to dramatically strengthen the company's foothold within the rapidly expanding electric vehicle (EV) segment.

The strategic move involves Minda Corporation's wholly owned subsidiary, Spark Minda Green Mobility Systems (SMGM). This unit has entered into a joint venture agreement with Turntide Drives, subject to necessary regulatory clearances. The collaborative efforts will operate through a newly established JV entity in India.

Focus Areas of the New EV Manufacturing Venture

The core mission of this joint venture is highly technical: developing and manufacturing next-generation EV components. These components include critical parts such as high- and low-voltage motor controllers and high-performance electric motors.

Furthermore, the JV will also specialize in thermal management pumps and various customized controllers. These offerings are specifically tailored to meet the soaring demands of India's burgeoning EV market.

The ownership structure of the new entity confirms the partnership's balance: Minda Corporation, via its wholly owned SPV, will hold a 49% stake, while Turntide Drives will retain the remaining 51%.

Strategic Implications for India's Electrification Goals

Ashok Minda, Chairman and Group CEO of Minda Corporation, heralded the deal as a major milestone in the group's journey toward electrification. He highlighted that combining Turntide’s globally proven technology with Minda Corporation's deep local presence is key.

This synergy aims to deliver advanced, high-quality, and cost-competitive EV powertrain solutions. Such solutions are designed to robustly support India’s national transition to sustainable mobility.

The venture is positioned to significantly contribute to achieving the 'Make in India' objectives, thereby enhancing the overall resilience of the domestic EV ecosystem supply chain.
