ICICI Life Soars 62%; Infra Stocks Surge on Massive Order Wins and Key Quarterly Earnings​

Mega Wins in Infrastructure and Defense Sectors​

The infrastructure space saw notable momentum with several firms announcing significant contract wins. RailTel Corporation of India received Letters of Acceptance (LoA) worth Rs 564.5 crore from Rail Vikas Nigam. Furthermore, the company secured an additional work order of Rs 43.96 crore from the Uttar Pradesh Police Recruitment and Promotion Board.

Meanwhile, HG Infra Engineering secured a substantial order valued at Rs 519.33 crore from Mirzapur Thermal Energy (UP). This contract involves executing civil and P-way works for the 2x800 MW thermal power project in Mirzapur, Uttar Pradesh. ArisInfra Solutions also strengthened its position by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Capacité Infraprojects for materials worth Rs 800 crore over five years.

Strong Performance Across Financial Services and Banking​

Financial institutions reported robust growth across key metrics. ICICI Prudential Life Insurance Company saw its Profit soar 61.9% year-on-year, reaching Rs 623.9 crore. Its Net premium income also increased by 17.2%, totaling Rs 19,180 crore.

The banking sector saw mixed regulatory signals. While the RBI noted Ujjivan Small Finance Bank's efforts to diversify its loan portfolio, it returned the application for a voluntary transition to a universal bank. The regulator advised the bank to reapply after further demonstrating diversification.

In asset management, ICICI Prudential Asset Management Company reported a 19.5% surge in revenue, reaching Rs 1,517 crore. Additionally, Anand Rathi Share and Stock Brokers saw its profit spike 125.7%, posting Rs 41.5 crore in Q4.

Residential and Energy Sector Highlights​

The real estate sector demonstrated healthy sales activity. Prestige Estates Projects achieved sales of Rs 7,697.3 crore in Q4 FY26. This reflected an 11 percent year-on-year growth, with the sales volume increasing by 19 percent YoY to 5.34 million square feet.

In the energy space, GAIL (India) plans to invest Rs 3,294.86 crore to set up a greenfield 600 MW solar project in Uttar Pradesh. Hindustan Zinc further announced success by being declared the successful bidder for the Jhandawali–Satipura Amalgamated Potash and Halite Block of Rajasthan.

Corporate Governance and Operational Milestones​

Several companies announced key governance and operational developments. Life Insurance Corporation of India approved the issuance of bonus equity shares in the proportion of 1:1 to existing shareholders. The paid-up equity share capital is set to increase to Rs 12,649.99 crore.

On the regulatory front, Indoco Remedies received a significant milestone after the US Food and Drug Administration completed a pre-approval inspection at its facility in Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar with zero Form 483 observations.

In organizational changes, Nadir Godrej retired as the Chairperson and Director from the Board, effective April 13. Separately, Minda Corporation announced a strategic joint venture with Turntide Technologies, through which it will hold a 49 percent stake, focused on next-generation electric vehicle powertrain solutions.

Key Quarterly Earnings Reports​

Multiple companies released their quarterly results, painting a picture of sectoral strength. Dwarves Engines saw a profit jump of 20.1% year-on-year to Rs 54.6 crore, with revenues climbing 20.2% to Rs 545.8 crore. ICICI Lombard General Insurance Company and several other firms, including Bombay Wire Ropes and Elecon Engineering Company, are also scheduled to announce their quarterly earnings today.

Among other financial updates, Indian Overseas Bank reduced its overnight, one-year, and two-year MCLR by 5 bps, effective April 15.
