The P17A Stealth Frigate class saw the commissioning of INS Taragiri (the third stealth frigate) on April 3, 2026. Subsequently, MDL delivered the fourth Stealth Frigate of the P17A Class Mahendragiri to the Indian Navy on April 30, 2026. Furthermore, the Second Reading acceptance documents (D448) for INS Vagir, the fifth Kalvari class submarine built under Project-75, were signed on April 22, 2026.

  • On April 6, 2026, a Keel laying Ceremony was conducted for 14 Fast Patrol Vessels (Yard-16504) intended for the Indian Coast Guard.
  • The Plate Cutting Ceremony for Fast Patrol Vessel 7 (Yard-16507) for the Indian Coast Guard also took place on April 6, 2026.
  • On June 25, 2026, the Keel Laying Ceremony was held for a Next Generation Offshore Patrol Vessel (Yard-16404) destined for the Indian Coast Guard.
  • The third 7500 DWT Multi-Purpose Hybrid Vessel (Yard 21003) had its Keel Laying ceremony on May 20, 2026.

Strategic Partnerships and Recognition​

On April 24, 2026, MDL signed an Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with NACE International India Section (NIIS), the Indian chapter of AMPP, to establish India's first dedicated Marine Blasting & Painting skill Centre.

In terms of innovation and social responsibility, MDL supported maritime education by having IIT Madras launch its advanced Circulating water Tunnel Facility at the Discovery Campus in Thaiyur Chennai, built with CSR support from the company. Furthermore, MDL was recognized with the prestigious PSE Technology & Innovation Awards 2026 in the 'Enterprise Applications' category at the India PSE Summit in Hyderabad.
