Hirect Secures Maiden MEMU Trainset Order, Marking Expansion into Integrated Rail Systems

Hirect Limited (formerly Hind Rectifiers Limited) has secured its inaugural order for Mainline Electric Multiple Unit (MEMU) trainsets from MCF. This agreement marks a pivotal moment in the company's strategic evolution, enabling it to transition beyond being solely a component manufacturer and establish itself as a provider of integrated railway systems.

The development order is valued at approximately ₹ 60 crore. It involves supplying complete Propulsion Systems for four MEMU trainsets. These supplied components include Traction Transformers, Traction Motors, and the Complete Propulsion System which incorporates the Train Control and Management System (TCMS). The project has an expected execution period of 24 months.

Hirect’s entry into the MEMU trainset segment signifies a significant strategic expansion beyond its traditional focus on locomotive applications. As a development order, this venture functions as a key qualification milestone for Hirect, allowing the company to demonstrate the performance, reliability, and operational excellence of its indigenously developed propulsion system. Successfully executing this project is expected to bolster Hirect's credibility for participating in larger, system-level opportunities within the expanding trainset ecosystem.

The achievement underscores the robustness of Hirect’s internal engineering and research capabilities. The company has leveraged its dedicated in-house R&D team to develop integrated system solutions, facilitating diversification into trainset applications from conventional locomotive products.

Commenting on the significance of the order, Suramya Nevatia, Chairman & Managing Director stated that the win validates the technology roadmap the company has cultivated over several years. He added that their entry into the MEMU segment demonstrates the strength of their R&D capabilities and their ability to deliver complete, high-value integrated solutions for modern rolling stock. Nevatia concluded by noting that as Indian Railways accelerates the deployment of next-generation mobility solutions, Hirect is well positioned to play an important role in this transformation.
