
Hirect Secures ₹60 Crore Development Order for Vande Metro Trainset from RCF
Hirect Limited has secured its first development order for the Vande Metro (Namo Bharat) trainset from Rail Coach Factory (RCF), marking a significant expansion of its presence into advanced railway technologies. This milestone positions the company as a key contributor to next-generation rolling stock applications for Indian Railways.The contract, valued at approximately ₹60 crores, involves providing comprehensive solutions for the Vande Metro, which is defined as a self propelled fully airconditioned 16 coach trainset operating on intercity routes with operational speeds up to 130 kmph. The scope of work includes the Design, Development, Manufacture, Supply, Installation, Testing and Commissioning of an IGBT based 3 phase propulsion system, Traction Transformers, Traction Motors, Train Control and Management System (TCMS), and other essential equipment.
The order also encompasses a comprehensive annual maintenance contract for the entire system and is slated for execution over a period of 21 months. This project enables HIRECT to showcase the performance and reliability of its indigenously developed propulsion solutions on one of Indian Railways advanced train platforms.
CEO Suramya Nevatia commented on the development order, stating that it represents a significant milestone in HIRECTs technology journey. He noted that the contract validates the companys continued investments in indigenous R&D capabilities. Nevatia added that building upon their strong foundation in traction transformers and railway electrification solutions, HIRECT is expanding into advanced propulsion and trainset applications to support the adoption of next generation mobility solutions by Indian Railways.
