
HDFC Bank Marks Retirement of Executive Director Bhavesh Zaveri
HDFC Bank Limited announced the retirement of Mr. Bhavesh Zaveri as an Executive Director, effective from the close of business hours on April 18, 2026. The bank noted and appreciated Mr. Zaveri’s long and devoted service throughout his tenure, wishing him success in his future endeavors.Mr. Bhavesh Zaveri began his journey with the bank in 1998 within the Operations function. His career progressed significantly over the years. He was appointed as Business Head Wholesale Banking Operations in 2000 and later became Group Head - Operations in 2009. In 2015, he assumed additional responsibilities for the Information Technology function, culminating in his role as Executive Director immediately prior to his retirement.
Throughout his tenure, Mr. Zaveri was a key contributor to the growth of the Bank and recognized as a thought leader in the banking industry.
As the head of operations, his responsibilities included creating and delivering a flawless operations execution capability. This capability spanned the Bank's diversified product suite, encompassing Corporate, MSME, Retail Assets, Liabilities, Transaction Services for Payments and Cash Management, Trade Finance, Treasury, ATM operations, and Administration.
Mr. Zaveri played a critical role in the Bank’s strategic expansion, being instrumental in delivering the deep geography strategy. This effort helped build a formidable banking network nationwide, thereby enabling financial inclusion and financial participation. His pioneering work in this area was key to enhancing the Bank's product and service offerings to customers in new markets.
In the technology sphere, his contributions greatly enhanced the Bank’s digital footprint. Notably, he was a key participant in the formation of the National Payment Corporation of India (NPCI), assisting the bank in preparing for and meeting the demands of a digital world and building the entire digital payment ecosystem for the country.
Beyond his technical and operational acumen, Mr. Zaveri also made significant contributions in the areas of leadership and skill development within the Bank, effectively mentoring staff and building a strong pipeline of leaders across the operations vertical to take on greater responsibilities.
