
Anchor Investors Boost Molbio Diagnostics' Valuation as It Prepares for ₹940 Crore IPO
Molbio Diagnostics, the specialized molecular diagnostics firm from Goa, has successfully secured significant anchor investment ahead of its highly anticipated Initial Public Offering (IPO). The company raised ₹281.5 crore from a select group of anchor investors, solidifying strong institutional confidence in the point-of-care testing solutions offered by the firm.The IPO is slated to open for public subscription on August 10 and conclude on August 12. Molbio Diagnostics plans to raise a total of ₹940 crore through the offering. This capital structure includes a fresh issue totaling ₹200 crore, alongside an Offer for Sale (OFS) component amounting to ₹739.7 crore, offered by existing shareholders.
Global and Domestic Giants Pounce on Anchor Investment
The successful allocation of 34.87 lakh equity shares to anchor investors reflects the high demand for Molbio Diagnostics. Among the global investors who participated, Goldman Sachs committed ₹30 crore. The International Finance Corporation (IFC) and BlackRock Global Funds also contributed ₹20 crore each through the anchor book.The domestic investment sphere was equally robust. Nine domestic mutual funds were allotted 23.54 lakh shares from the total anchor allocation. These key participating institutions include HDFC Mutual Fund, Kotak Mahindra AMC, ICICI Prudential AMC, Nippon India Mutual Fund, Mirae Asset, WhiteOak Capital, Motilal Oswal AMC, Tata Mutual Fund, and Edelweiss Mutual Fund.
Key Financial Details of Molbio Diagnostics IPO
The pricing for the upcoming public issue has been carefully determined, with the price band fixed in the range of ₹768 to ₹807 per share.Additionally, 2.65 lakh shares, representing a value of ₹21.44 crore, were allotted to ten life insurance companies. Market observers have noted that Molbio Diagnostics' stock was commanding a grey market premium (GMP) exceeding 20 percent in the period leading up to the IPO.
Strategic Use of Funds and Company Infrastructure
The capital raised through the IPO will be strategically deployed across technology expansion, infrastructure development, and corporate growth. A portion of the fresh issue proceeds, amounting to ₹105.5 crore, is earmarked for establishing a dedicated research and development facility and a Centre of Excellence. This center will be operated by its subsidiary, Bigtec, alongside providing office space necessary for the company and its associated entities.Further, ₹72.2 crore from the IPO proceeds will be allocated towards acquiring essential plant, machinery, and equipment required for their manufacturing units located in Goa and Visakhapatnam. The remaining funds are designated for general corporate purposes.
Technologic Edge: Truenat Platform Driving Growth
At the core of Molbio Diagnostics' operations is the patented Truenat platform. This technology boasts patents across more than 100 countries and is crucial for diagnosing a wide range of infectious and non-communicable diseases.The company currently offers molecular diagnostic tests covering 30 diseases through 43 assays. These critical areas include testing for tuberculosis, COVID-19, Hepatitis B and C, HIV, and Human Papillomavirus (HPV).
