Adani Energy Solutions Wins Rs 4,700 Crore Transmission Project for 4,500 MW of Renewable and Storage Power in Maharashtra
Adani Energy Solutions Ltd. (AESL), a leading private transmission and distribution company within the Adani portfolio, has secured a major transmission project valued at an estimated Rs 4,700 crore. This project is designated for the evacuation of renewable and storage power generated in Karnataka to major load centers in Maharashtra, bolstering the pumped storage ecosystem across the Satara, Pune, and Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR).The project, titled "Network Expansion Scheme in Western Region to Cater to Pumped Storage Potential near Satara (up to 4500 MW) - Part A," was awarded to AESL following a Tariff Based Competitive Bidding (TBCB) process, where the company emerged as the lowest bidder.
The contract, held under Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) Satara Power Transmission Ltd., is scheduled for delivery within 36 months. This acquisition significantly expands AESL's transmission infrastructure. The project will introduce 562 circuit kilometres (ckm) of new transmission lines and 9,000 MVA of transformation capacity to the company's portfolio.
According to the project details, the work includes the establishment of a 765/400 kV substation at Satara, the implementation of a Kolhapur-Satara 765 kV double-circuit transmission line, and the augmentation of the Kolhapur pooling station along with necessary transmission infrastructure.
The successful contract win further solidifies AESL’s standing in the sector. With this project, the company's cumulative transmission network now stands at 29,739 ckm, and its transformation capacity is 1,43,425 MVA. The addition of this project brings AESL's transmission orderbook to approximately Rs 85,000 crore.
Mr. Kandarp Patel, CEO of Adani Energy Solutions Ltd., commented that pumped storage projects are becoming crucial components of India's clean energy transition, providing the flexibility and reliability needed to integrate large-scale renewable energy into the grid. He stated that the Satara transmission project will create a vital backbone, strengthening power flows between Southern and Western India, and supporting both renewable energy evacuation and energy storage deployment.
AESL continues to focus on building future-ready infrastructure, connecting resource-rich green areas such as solar, wind, and pumped storage with major industrial and urban load centers across India.
The key operational and portfolio metrics resulting from this project are summarized below:
