Adani Energy Solutions Limited (AESL) reported strong financial performance for the first quarter of the financial year 2027 (Q1FY27), with operational revenue rising 54%. The company registered a record high in EBITDA and a significant rise in profit after tax (PAT).

Consolidated financial results showed AESL achieving an operational revenue of Rs 7,116 crore in Q1FY27, compared to Rs 4,618 crore in Q1FY26. Total Operating EBITDA reached Rs 3,178 crore for the quarter, marking a sharp year-on-year increase of 58%. The company also reported PAT of Rs 1,237 crore, representing a 130% YoY growth driven by double-digit EBITDA expansion and the inclusion of the energy solutions platform.

The performance across different business segments contributed to these strong outcomes.

The transmission business maintained a robust system availability of 99.63%. In the distribution sector (AEML Mumbai), total units sold in the Mumbai circle increased by 11%, growing from 2,939 Million Units (MUs) in Q1FY26 to 3,260 MUs in Q1FY27. The RAB stands at Rs 10,353 Cr as of Q1FY27, registering a 10% YoY increase.

Smart Metering and Energy Solutions Growth​

In a significant strategic move, AESL executed a binding agreement to acquire a 100% equity stake in IntelliSmart Infrastructure Private Limited from NIIF and EESL. The total consideration for this acquisition amounted to Rs 3,050 crore.

The combination of AESL’s existing smart metering portfolio (24.6 Million meters) and the acquired IntelliSmart portfolio (22.3 Million meters) means that AESL now possesses a combined smart metering platform exceeding 47 million smart meters, establishing it as India's largest in this domain.

In the energy solutions sector, the company assured 13,181 MUs in Q1FY27 across Commercial & Industrial (C&I), data centers, and utilities. This platform includes a supply tie-up of approximately 4.0 GW from solar, wind, and storage, alongside a 3.3 GWh BESS portfolio for C&I, data centers, and utilities.

Capital Expenditure and Operational Metrics​

The company noted a substantial ramp-up in capital expenditure (Capex) during Q1FY27, which increased by 1.57 times to Rs 3,498 Cr, reflecting steady capex performance across all three segments. Specifically, transmission capex was reported up by 2.2 times in the current quarter, while distribution segment capex saw a 1.3-fold increase.

AESL's operational asset portfolio includes 20,023 circuit kilometers (ckm) of transmission network and 49,400 MVA of transformation capacity across its operational assets as of June 2026. The company holds a diversified portfolio of under-construction projects totaling 7,926 ckm and 73,775 MVA in transmission and includes 24.6 million smart meters under construction (Mn) with a total revenue potential of Rs 29,519 crore across various clients.

ESG and Governance Highlights​

AESL maintained strong performance in its environmental indicators for Q1FY27. The company reported 60.50% auxiliary consumption derived from renewable power. Furthermore, the commitment to biodiversity remains central, with AESL having undertaken afforestation covering 888 hectares until FY26, aiming for a net positive gain in biodiversity.

In terms of governance, the company maintains a Board Gender Diversity of 25%, consisting of two women directors out of eight members. The company's ESG Ratings Governance Standing was noted at 81/100 (based on data up to June '26), positioning it among the top performers within electric utility peers based on CSA standards.

On Tuesday, Adani Energy Solutions Limited shares climbed by 0.44%, settling at ₹1741.6 as the market closed. The stock saw a trading volume of 3.71 million shares, closing well above its daily low of ₹1718.6.
