The fund house closed at ₹610.15 on the NSE, marking a solid gain of 6.30%. This performance highlights strong investor appetite for established financial players entering the capital markets. At the closing bell, SBI Funds' market capitalization stood at an impressive ₹1.24 lakh crore.

IPO Success and Capital Raising Milestone Reached

The initial public offering (IPO) represented a major success story for the joint venture between State Bank of India and Amundi. SBI Funds successfully raised ₹9,813 crore through the offering. This amount makes it the largest raise of its kind in 2026 so far. The issue was highly sought after by the market, achieving an impressive subscription rate of 41.66 times.

The company's capital structure involves various stakeholders. Both shareholders sold a portion of their stakes, which represented around 10% of the company's paid-up equity capital. CS Setty, Chairman of SBI, assured the market that the bank does not plan to further dilute its stake in the asset manager at this time.

Future Growth and Alternative Investment Focus

Management has clear plans for aggressive growth and diversification moving forward. The firm is set to launch new product capabilities specifically under its Alternative Investment Funds (AIF). Debasish Mishra, CEO of SBI Funds Management, stated that AIFs are a key area of major investment for the company.

He elaborated that they will be announcing various new product capabilities in this space. This includes both managing and raising funds within the rapidly growing sector of alternative investments. Category II AIFs form a significant portion of the market, underscoring the scale of opportunity.

Nicolas Calcoen, Deputy CEO of Amundi, expressed commitment to the Indian market. He assured that the firm will continue bringing global expertise to strengthen its presence in India. SBI Funds Management is also focused on deepening its footprint beyond major financial hubs.

Asset Management Scale and Market Ambitions

SBI Funds Management manages a substantial portfolio of assets under management (AUM). As of March 31, the company managed approximately ₹12.5 lakh crore. This significant figure translates to about 15.3% market share in the industry.

The bank's support for the asset manager has been crucial to its growth and continuing investor confidence, as stated by CS Setty. Looking ahead, SBI Funds aims to strengthen its distribution network. The goal is to deepen its footprint across B30 markets and locations beyond the top 30 mutual fund cities.

Meanwhile, ICICI Prudential Asset Management, which is the second largest mutual fund in the industry, had a market value of ₹1.55 lakh crore at Tuesday's closing. This data provides context on the scale of major players in the Indian financial advisory landscape.
