
Purple Finance Targets Inorganic Growth with Proposed Acquisition of Saksham Gram Credit Pvt Ltd.
BSE-listed non-banking financial company (NBFC) Purple Finance Limited has announced plans to accelerate its growth through inorganic expansion, announcing the in-principle approval for the acquisition of Saksham Gram Credit Private Limited. This move is set to mark a significant entry for Purple Finance into rural and semi-rural markets.The Board of Directors accorded approval for the proposed acquisition of Saksham Gram Credit Private Limited as a 100% wholly owned subsidiary, subject to due diligence and regulatory approvals. The strategic purchase aims to build capabilities and expand the company's network structure.
Purple Finance has simultaneously committed Rs 108 crore in equity funding, bolstering its financial stability and positioning the company for robust AUM growth. Amitabh Chaturvedi, Chairman of Purple Finance Limited, stated that their growth strategy extends beyond opening new branches, focusing equally on evaluating strategic opportunities to strengthen portfolios and expand into new geographies.
Financial Performance and Market Presence
The company reported a strong performance during the quarter ended June 30, 2026. Total income reached Rs. 1,622.45 lakhs, marking a 162.55 per cent year-on-year increase. The company also recorded a profit after tax (PAT) of Rs. 38.43 lakhs, representing a significant turnaround from a loss in the corresponding quarter of the previous year.As of June 30, 2026, Purple Finance reported Assets Under Management (AUM) exceeding Rs 278 crores, achieving a current growth rate greater than 116 per cent over the preceding financial year. Furthermore, cumulative loan disbursements since inception have surpassed Rs 312 crores.
Scaling Through Acquisition
The inorganic expansion is designed to propel Purple Finance's network expansion and customer base, enhance its presence across Tier III and IV markets, and establish a strategic foothold in the Southern Indian states by strengthening distribution proficiencies.Purple Finance remains focused on expanding access to formal credit for micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) across Tier II, III, and IV markets as it advances toward its long-term goal of becoming a Small Finance Bank.
Saksham Gram Credit Private Limited, incorporated in December 2019, is recognized as one of the largest Business Correspondents providing services to banks and NBFCs. It facilitates microfinance, secured business loans, and unsecured business loans primarily catering to customers in rural and semi-urban areas. Saksham Gram operates across 10 states, servicing over 1.63 lakhs customers through 147 branches, covering 74 districts with more than 31,000 microfinances centers, supported by approximately 900 staff.
Following the proposed acquisition, the combined entity is expected to have an Assets Under Management (AUM) of approximately Rs 850 crore.
Purple Finance Limited is registered with the Reserve Bank of India as a non-deposit taking NBFC. The company started in retail secured lending in 2022, focusing on MSMEs and leveraging technology for responsible growth.
