Subsidiary of Vishal Mega Mart Penalized in Moradabad Court Over Food Safety Violation
Vishal Mega Mart Limited’s subsidiary, Airplaza Retail Holdings Private Limited, has received a court order imposing a penalty following a food safety investigation conducted at its store in Moradabad. The penalties relate to the sale of a third-party manufactured product that did not comply with relevant provisions of the Laws.The Court of Additional District Magistrate in Moradabad imposed a penalty amounting to Rs. 1,00,000/- against the Store Manager and the subsidiary following an inspection on April 11, 2025. The violation occurred after a Food Safety Officer collected a sample of 'Ghee', which was manufactured by a third party. Analysis determined that the product did not conform to the provisions of the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006.
The company noted that while the financial impact includes the imposed penalty, there is no material effect on the operations or other activities of the Company. Since the 'Ghee' was a third-party manufactured product, the penalty amount will be recovered from the concerned Manufacturer.
Airplaza Retail Holdings Private Limited is currently reviewing the court order and is in the process of filing an appeal against the decision. The company reported receiving the direction or order from the authority on August 12, 2026.
