Special Flights from Fujairah to Delhi, Mumbai and Kochi on March 4

SpiceJet will operate eight special flights from the United Arab Emirates on March 4 to bring back Indian nationals stranded due to the ongoing conflict in West Asia, the airline announced in a press release on Wednesday.

All eight flights will depart from Fujairah. The airline has scheduled four flights to Delhi, three to Mumbai, and one to Kochi to enhance capacity and facilitate the return of affected passengers.

On March 3, SpiceJet had already operated four special flights from the UAE to Delhi, Mumbai, and Kochi as part of its evacuation efforts.

West Asia Airspace Disruptions Following US and Israel Strikes on Iran

Flight schedules across West Asia have been severely disrupted after airstrikes by the United States and Israel on Iran. The strikes were followed by missile and drone attacks by Iran across the region, escalating tensions and impacting international aviation routes.

The February 28 airstrikes targeted military command centers, air defense systems, missile sites, and other infrastructure in several Iranian cities. In response, Iran launched ballistic missiles and drones at US assets and allied nations in the region, including Israel, Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, and Jordan.

Increased Passenger Arrivals at Indian Airports

Airports in Delhi, Mumbai, and Kochi have reported a surge in passenger arrivals from West Asia after Dubai and Fujairah partially reopened their airspace.

India continues to closely monitor the evolving airspace situation in parts of West Asia and its implications for international flight operations. According to official data, 1,221 flights operated by Indian carriers and 388 flights by foreign airlines have been cancelled so far due to the conflict.

On Tuesday, Indian carriers operated 24 flights, while Emirates and Etihad operated nine flights from the Gulf region.

Additional Flights Planned by Indian and Foreign Carriers

The Ministry of Civil Aviation stated that Indian carriers are planning to operate 58 flights on March 4, including 30 flights by IndiGo and 23 flights by Air India and Air India Express.

Foreign carriers operating between India and the Gulf region are also conducting limited operations, subject to operational and airspace considerations.

The ministry said special arrangements are being made to facilitate the movement of stranded passengers. Airlines are deploying additional capacity where required and coordinating closely with foreign aviation authorities and Indian missions abroad to ensure safe and orderly passenger movement.
