Sankalchand Patel University Partners with TechD Labs to Launch Industry-Grade Cybersecurity Programs​

Sankalchand Patel University (SPU), Visnagar, and TechD Cybersecurity Limited, operating as TechDefence Labs, Ahmedabad, have established a comprehensive knowledge partnership via a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). The collaboration aims to deliver industry-grade cybersecurity education directly on the SPU campus, addressing the growing technical skill gap in the national job market.

The partnership emerges against a backdrop of a significant cybersecurity workforce gap in India, which is estimated to be over one million unfilled professionals. Industry recruiters have noted that engineering graduates frequently lack hands-on experience with live threats, enterprise security tooling, SOC operations, and penetration-testing workflows—the specific skills currently in high demand.

TechDefence Labs is focused on closing this skill deficit by co-owning cybersecurity education at both the bachelor's and master's levels. This initiative replaces conventional classroom-only learning with a hybrid model, allowing students to train on the same tools, threat scenarios, and enterprise client environments utilized by practicing cybersecurity engineers daily. The MoU with SPU marks the flagship implementation of this strategy in North Gujarat.

For students enrolled, the program is designed to ensure they graduate as industry-ready cybersecurity professionals, possessing documented live-project exposure, OEM-issued certifications, and a direct path into placements with enterprise clients.

The agreement, which has a duration of three years, positions TechDefence Labs as the exclusive knowledge partner for specialized academic programs. The partnership brings certified industry experts, live project environments, and placement assurance to SPU students.

Academic Programs and Training Focus​

The collaboration covers several key academic programs:


Dr. Prafulkumar Udani, Provost of Sankalchand Patel University, stated that the partnership will jointly focus on strengthening expertise across the four critical layers of cybersecurity: the Physical Layer, the Data Layer, the Application Layer, and the Operating System Layer.

Under the arrangement, TechDefence Labs will deploy qualified faculty holding certifications such as CEH, OSCP, and CISSP. Training will cover eight core subject areas, including Ethical Hacking & Cyber Security, Cyber Forensics, Information and Network Security, Vulnerability Assessment, and Security Monitoring.

Flagship Enterprise Vertical​

A cornerstone of the collaboration is the establishment of the Enterprise Vertical: Cybersecurity Lab. This fully equipped live-operations center will be co-established on the SPU campus. The lab simulates real-world threat environments and will onboard actual enterprise clients seeking penetration testing, managed SOC services, and security audits. This structure provides students with paid, stipend-earning exposure to live projects starting from the initial stages of their coursework.

Mr. Sunny Vaghela, CEO of TechD Cybersecurity Limited, stated that the goal is to bridge the widening gap between cybersecurity education and industry practice at scale.

Partnership Structure and Certification​

The model is structured as a true partnership, with revenue generated through the Enterprise Vertical being shared equally between the two institutions on a 50-50 basis after operational expenses are deducted.

The collaboration ensures that all course curricula will be developed jointly. Furthermore, enrolled students will receive access to no-cost certifications from recognized bodies, including Seceon-OEM Certification, Ethical Hacking & Pen Testing, Security Operations & IR, and Cloud Security & Risk Management.

The University’s Advisory Board for this program is comprised of key leaders from both institutions, meeting quarterly to review the program's progress and direction.
