Samsung's India Presence Fuels India-Korea Boost: Leaders Meet at Noida Facility

New Delhi, India witnessed a significant display of corporate and bilateral cooperation on Monday as Samsung Electronics' operations in Noida became the backdrop for high-level discussions. Executive Chairman of Samsung Electronics, Lee Jae-yong, was photographed with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and South Korean President Lee Jae Myung during a state luncheon.

The gesture not only captured the moment but also strongly highlighted Samsung’s robust local manufacturing capabilities within India. This significant meeting followed a critical bilateral summit between the two nations, signaling a unified commitment to economic growth.

Deepening Economic Ties at Noida Mega-Facility

According to a statement from the South Korean presidential office, the day’s agenda included interactions between the two leaders and prominent business leaders from both countries. Ahead of the luncheon, the leaders posed for a group photograph alongside industry representatives.

This gathering served as an official platform for sustained economic dialogue between the nations. Samsung, a cornerstone of the local tech ecosystem, has been manufacturing diverse mobile devices at its Noida plant since 1996. The facility produces a wide range of smartphones, including everything from budget models to sophisticated flagship and foldable devices.

Business Delegation Strengthens Investment Outlook

President Lee’s visit to India is part of a broader state tour encompassing Vietnam and involves a substantial business delegation. Lee Jae-yong was scheduled to participate in the Korea-India Business Forum.

This forum was highly attended, bringing together 250 Korean businesspeople. The participation list included the heads of Korea's four largest conglomerates, underscoring deep corporate alignment. Prominent figures attending included Hyundai Motor Group Executive Chair Euisun Chung, SK Group Chairman Chey Tae-won, and LG Chairman Koo Kwang-mo.

Diplomatic Focus Anchored in Peace and Progress

Beyond the corporate engagements, President Lee paid tribute to Mahatma Gandhi at a memorial dedicated to his legacy. This action honored one of India’s most influential figures, while simultaneously reinforcing a commitment to promoting global peace.

Lee subsequently held summit talks with Prime Minister Modi on the second day of his three-day state visit. Earlier that day, Lee expressed hope for forging mutually beneficial relations, emphasizing India’s pivotal role in global prosperity.

Blueprint for Future India-South Korea Cooperation

The Prime Minister’s efforts and Lee Jae-yong’s public statements framed the relationship as deeply synergistic. Lee noted that "there are many things that serve the interests of both countries."

He emphasized that for the two nations to build a bright future, collaborative efforts rooted in peace and democracy are essential. These diplomatic and corporate interactions solidify the pathway for continued mutual growth and cooperation between India and South Korea.
