India-South Korea Ties Set for Major Boost: Leaders Meet to Forge Deep Tech, Trade Alliances​

The diplomatic synergy between India and South Korea reached a new high today in New Delhi. External Affairs Minister Dr S. Jaishankar lauded the South Korean President’s commitment to deepening bilateral relations across multiple domains. He expressed strong confidence that the upcoming talks between President Lee Jae Myung and Prime Minister Narendra Modi will further strengthen both nations' special strategic partnership.

President Lee Jae Myung arrived in New Delhi on a three-day visit, initiating his stay with a formal reception by Union Minister Harsh Malhotra. He is accompanied by First Lady Kim Hea Kyung and a high-level delegation including various ministers, senior officials, and business leaders. This marks President Lee’s first official visit to India.

High-Level Meetings Focus on Economic Synergy​

During his visit, President Lee Jae Myung is scheduled to hold comprehensive discussions with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. These talks are set to strengthen bilateral cooperation across a wide spectrum of areas.

The strategic areas of collaboration include shipbuilding, trade, and investments. Furthermore, the discussions will zero in on advanced technological sectors like AI, semiconductors, and critical and emerging technologies. The leaders also plan to exchange views on regional and global issues of mutual interest.

Prime Minister Modi will host a dedicated lunch in honour of the visiting South Korean dignitary. Additionally, President Lee Jae Myung is slated to hold separate discussions with President Droupadi Murmu.

Strengthening the Strategic India-Korea Partnership​

The relationship between India and South Korea is described as multifaceted, drawing strength from ancient civilizational ties. Both nations share deep values rooted in democracy and the rule of law.

The visit underscores a shared aspiration to move beyond existing cooperation. Both sides are intent on further expanding collaboration into new and emerging areas of mutual strategic interest.
