This structure was reportedly created without prior approval from the RBI and was identified as a non-compliance of Regulation 5(1) of the Foreign Exchange Management (Transfer and Issue of any Foreign Security) Regulations, 2004.
The company confirmed that the investment related to this structure had been divested in March 2022, meaning the underlying investment is no longer held by Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Limited. The compounding relates to the resolution of this historical compliance matter.
Tata Motors stated there is no material impact on the financial, operational, or other activities of the Company resulting from the aforementioned order. The company is in the process of making the payment of the ₹2,00,000 compounding amount.
