PM Kicks Off Global Blitz: Strengthening India's Strategic Pillars in Indonesia, Australia, and New Zealand

The Prime Minister is commencing a critical three-nation tour spanning from July 6 to July 11, 2026. The visit to Indonesia, Australia, and New Zealand aims to significantly bolster existing bilateral relationships across multiple key domains. This high-level diplomatic engagement underscores India’s commitment to reinforcing its strategic positioning in the Indo-Pacific region.

Deepening Partnership with Indonesia: Focus on Culture and Cooperation

The PM will begin the tour in Jakarta, attending an invitation from the President of Indonesia, H.E. Mr. Prabowo Subianto. This trip marks the first bilateral visit following the elevation of India and Indonesia's relationship to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership during the 2018 visits.

This particular state engagement is designed to deepen the already strong civilizational and people-to-people ties between both nations. A key element of this cultural deepening includes a planned visit to the historic Prambanan Temple complex in Yogyakarta, alongside President Prabowo.

Elevating Ties with Australia: Defence and Critical Technologies

Following Indonesia, the PM will travel to Melbourne at the invitation of the Prime Minister of Australia, Hon'ble Anthony Albanese. This leg of the tour is focused on further solidifying the existing Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between India and Australia.

Discussions in Melbourne will focus intensely on high-growth areas such as defence and security. Furthermore, both nations plan to deepen ties in emerging and critical technologies, trade, investments, education, mobility, and sports science.

Trade Expansion with New Zealand: Addressing Commercial Growth

The tour continues to Auckland, New Zealand, following an invitation from Prime Minister Christopher Luxon. This visit is intended to build upon the successful momentum created during the PM's earlier visit to New Zealand in March 2025.

A core objective of the engagement includes enhancing economic and trade commitments between the two countries. The significance of this visit also lies in addressing a large gathering of the Indian diaspora community residing in Auckland.

Reinforcing India’s Indo-Pacific Vision

The multifaceted nature of the tour is set to reaffirm India's global diplomatic commitment. By visiting Eastern and Southern Indian Ocean nations, the Prime Minister aims to strengthen both India’s Act East Policy and the MAHASAGAR Vision.

These strategic engagements across Indonesia, Australia, and New Zealand collectively underscore India's outlook towards maintaining a free and open Indo-Pacific.
