Bengaluru, Tuesday, December 30, 2025: Ola Electric Mobility Limited announced a key milestone in its electric mobility roadmap, with its flagship electric motorcycle, the Roadster X+, receiving formal certification for road use in India. The approval clears the way for the company to begin customer deliveries of the model in the domestic market.

The Roadster X+ is the first electric motorcycle in India to be powered by an entirely in-house developed 4680 Bharat Cell battery pack, underscoring Ola Electric’s push towards full vertical integration across cell design, battery manufacturing, and vehicle platforms.

Industry-Leading Range Targets Wider Markets

The Roadster X+ comes equipped with a 9.1 kWh battery pack and offers a claimed range of up to 500 km on a single charge, positioning it among the longest-range electric motorcycles in the country. The extended range is aimed at making electric motorcycling viable beyond major urban centres, particularly in Tier II and Tier III markets where longer daily travel distances and limited charging infrastructure have historically constrained EV adoption.

According to the company, the high energy density and advanced thermal characteristics of the 4680 Bharat Cell technology enable sustained long-distance and inter-city riding while maintaining performance and safety benchmarks.

Strengthening Vertical Integration Strategy

With the certification of the Roadster X+, Ola Electric has expanded the deployment of its 4680 Bharat Cell platform across both its electric scooter and motorcycle portfolios. The company indicated that the same cell architecture will also support future product platforms, reinforcing its strategy of controlling critical EV components in-house rather than relying on external suppliers.

An Ola Electric spokesperson said the milestone reflects the company’s broader ambition to build end-to-end electric vehicle technology domestically, combining proprietary cell development with vehicle engineering to deliver improved range, reliability, and safety.

Focus on Safety and Performance Validation

The Roadster X+ has undergone comprehensive validation covering vehicle safety, electrical systems, performance metrics, and environmental endurance. The 9.1 kWh battery pack has also been subjected to stringent durability and safety testing, including resistance to water ingress, thermal stress, and mechanical impact, aligning with the company’s stated focus on battery robustness.
