
NTPC Green Energy Limited Secures BESS Capacity in WBSEDCL Tender
NTPC Green Energy Limited (NGEL), a subsidiary of NTPC Limited, has successfully secured a portion of the Standalone Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects being developed by the West Bengal State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (WBSEDCL). NGEL emerged as a successful bidder in an e-reverse auction conducted by WBSEDCL for setting up BESS capacity across the state.The tender, which utilized a TariF-Based Competitive Bidding (TBCB) process, was aimed at establishing a total of 500 MW/2000 MWh of standalone BESS capacity. Under the terms of the Request for Selection (RfS), NGEL secured 200 MW/800 MWh of this BESS capacity.
The contract award was made following the e-reverse auction, which concluded on August 7, 2026. NGEL secured the capacity at a discovered tariF rate of ₹4.35 lakh per MW per month.
