NHPC Limited Announces Commercial Operation of Subansiri Lower HE Project Unit #1
NHPC Limited declared the Commercial Operation (CoD) of Unit #1 (250 MW) of the Subansiri Lower Hydro Electric Project, a 2000 MW (8 x 250 MW) project located in Assam/Arunachal Pradesh, starting at 00:00 hours on March 20, 2026.This announcement follows previous updates on the project’s progress dated October 5, 2023, October 13, 2023, May 22, 2024, August 20, 2024, October 22, 2024, December 26, 2024, May 26, 2025, June 30, 2025, October 10, 2025, December 3, 2025, December 18, 2025, December 21, 2025, and January 30, 2026.
With the commissioning of Unit #1, a total of three units – Unit #1, Unit #2, and Unit #3 – within the Subansiri Lower HE Project have now commenced commercial operations. NHPC Limited stated that further updates regarding the CoD of the remaining units will be provided in due course.
