
MNVS Prabhakar Nominated as Non-Executive Chairman of OMDC
The Orissa Minerals Development Company Limited (OMDC) has announced the nomination of Shri MNVS Prabhakar as its Non-Executive Chairman. The change in leadership takes effect from May 25, 2026.The nomination comes following a letter received from Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Limited (RINL), the ultimate holding company of OMDC. Shri MNVS Prabhakar, who serves as the Chairman and Managing Director of RINL, is taking over the role from Shri Manish Raj Gupta, who previously held the post of ex-CMD (Additional charge), RINL.
Shri MNVS Prabhakar is not related to any existing director of the company.

Shri MNVS Prabhakar brings extensive experience to his new role. He assumed charge as the Chairman cum Managing Director (CMD) of Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Limited (RINL) on May 12, 2026.He is described as a distinguished technocrat and seasoned steel industry leader, possessing over three decades of experience in the Indian steel sector. His career began with Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) in 1991, where he joined as a Management Trainee (Technical) after earning a Bachelor of Engineering in Metallurgy from VRCE, Nagpur, and later acquiring an MBA in HR & Marketing.
Shri Prabhakar’s career progression includes serving as Executive Director of NMDC Steel Limited (NSL). During his tenure at NSL, he led a significant operational and financial turnaround. His leadership efforts resulted in stabilization of plant operations near rated capacity, enhanced productivity, substantial improvements in techno-economic parameters, and a reduction in specific energy consumption. Furthermore, he drove digital initiatives, including RFID-enabled systems, digital gate entry, and Vehicle Tracking Systems (VTS), while also focusing on manpower rationalization and promoting environmental sustainability.
