Meta and Reliance Forge Landmark Partnership to Build AI-Enabled Data Centre in Gujarat​

Meta is embarking on a major strategic expansion in India, partnering with Reliance Industries to construct its first AI-enabled data centre within the state of Gujarat. This collaboration signifies a critical move by the global social media giant to scale its computing infrastructure amid the accelerating worldwide race for artificial intelligence dominance.

Reliance Industries will be responsible for developing this high-capacity facility in Jamnagar, providing advanced support essential for hyperscale tech operations. The data centre is slated to reach 168 megawatts and is scheduled for delivery within two years, with provisions existing for further capacity scaling as technology evolves.

Defining the Scope of the Strategic Alliance​

The partnership extends well beyond just construction; Reliance will provide a comprehensive suite of end-to-end services. These services encompass design and construction management, utility management, renewable power provisioning, network connectivity, and managed services.

This move solidifies an existing strategic relationship between Meta and Reliance, which previously established a joint venture aimed at developing AI solutions for various enterprises in India and selected international markets. The commitment reflects the deep integration of both companies into India's digital transformation narrative.

Industry Leaders Affirming Digital Infrastructure Readiness​

Mukesh D Ambani, Chairman and Managing Director of Reliance Industries Limited, hailed the partnership as a "transformative moment" for India’s burgeoning digital infrastructure. He emphasized that building India's first built-to-suit data centre for a global technology leader like Meta demonstrates the nation’s capacity to lead the global AI revolution.

Ambani stated that Reliance is committed to developing world-class digital infrastructure designed to power future generations of AI innovation, not just domestically but globally. He further noted that Jamnagar is poised to become a landmark destination for hyperscale AI computing.

Mark Zuckerberg, Founder and CEO of Meta, expressed pride in the collaboration with Reliance. He confirmed that this world-class facility in Jamnagar will assist Meta in scaling its global AI infrastructure while simultaneously reinforcing their long-term economic commitment to India.
