User Growth and Operational Efficiency
The platform saw a significant increase in user engagement and order volume during the quarter. Annual Transacting Users (ATUs) rose 29% year-over-year to 274 million, with purchase frequency improving to 10.3 transactions per user annually. Placed Orders grew 29% YoY, reaching 725 million.Efficiency gains were driven by improved platform monetization and reduced transaction risk. The increased mix of prepaid orders reached approximately 37% of shipped orders, contributing directly to lower cancellations and Return-to-Origin (RTO) rates.
Dhiresh Bansal, Chief Financial Officer at Meesho, stated that the Q1 performance reflects the operating model's strength. "This quarter marked our strongest Contribution Margin and Marketplace Adjusted EBITDA since listing," he said, emphasizing structural improvements across the platform despite rising operational costs.
AI and Seller Ecosystem Expansion
Meesho continues to embed artificial intelligence (AI) across all layers of its business operations, from product discovery and logistics to engineering. The company accelerated its AI-first engineering transformation, embedding AI into the software development lifecycle which reportedly enabled 2x or more productivity gains for engineers.The company is actively empowering sellers through AI-powered tools, including cataloguing, demand intelligence, and multilingual voice agents. This focus on seller empowerment contributed to a substantial 81% YoY growth in Annual Transacting Sellers (ATS), which now stand at over 1.04 million. Of these entrepreneurs, 45% are based in Tier 2+ towns, while the momentum in Tier 4 markets showed a 125% YoY growth.
Furthermore, Meesho expanded its reach into the B2B commerce ecosystem through the acquisition of Kirana Club.
Margin Expansion and Platform Scaling
The expansion of the Contribution Margin to 4.6% was attributed to optimized logistics networks, improved platform monetization, and the reduction in costs associated with cancellations and RTO rates due to increased prepaid orders.Meesho Mall, which now hosts over 1,200 brands, expanded nationally across categories such as beauty and personal care, grocery, and fashion, reporting approximately 93% YoY growth. Content Commerce NMV grew by 141% YoY, supported by AI-powered creator tools, with active order generating content increasing to 1.7 million.
As of June 30, 2026, Meesho reported a cash balance of ₹ 6,521 crore, providing the company flexibility to pursue long-term growth opportunities while maintaining financial discipline.
