LEAP India IPO Set to Unleash Supply Chain Growth: Is This High-Risk Play Worth the Valuation?
The Indian market is closely watching the upcoming Initial Public Offering (IPO) of LEAP India, a major player in the asset-pooling and supply chain management sector. The listing promises exposure to the rapidly growing automation space, offering significant long-term potential for investors with a high appetite for risk.LEAP India is planning an ambitious capital raise through its IPO. The company intends to raise ₹480 crore via a fresh issue specifically earmarked for debt repayment. This will be complemented by an offer for sale amounting to ₹2,000 crore, driving significant shareholder changes.
Business Expansion and Market Dominance
As the largest on-demand asset-pooling provider in India, LEAP India operates a robust share and reuse model. This model assists customers across various industries like FMCG, e-commerce, automotive, and consumer durables to substantially reduce logistics costs and improve supply chain efficiency. The company’s strategic move to acquire CHEP India in January 2025 has significantly amplified its capabilities. This acquisition expanded LEAP India's asset-pooling network and container-pooling portfolio, positioning it strongly for future industry growth.
LEAP operates through 29 fulfillment centers nationwide, facilitating the quick deployment, storage, maintenance, and repair of assets for clients. Further bolstering its operational strength is TARON, a subsidiary that leads in the lithium-ion segment of material-handling equipment (MHE).
Financial Health and Operational Trajectory
The financial performance data reveals strong growth across multiple metrics during the assessed period. Revenue from operations surged by 41.4% year-on-year to reach ₹729.5 crore. Net profit demonstrated solid expansion, growing 29.5% year-on-year to stand at ₹62.3 crore between FY24 and FY26.On a more granular view of the most recent period (FY26), revenue grew by 56.4%, with EBITDA rising 38.4%. Net profit surged an impressive 66% in FY26 alone, underscoring underlying operational improvements.
Valuation Metrics and Capital Structure Changes
Valuation assessments place LEAP India in a specialized segment of the market, as it currently lacks direct listed peers in India. Based on the post-IPO figures and net profit for FY26, the company's valuation demands a Price-to-Earnings (P/E) multiple of up to 113 times.Despite rapid growth, debt levels have seen material changes. Net debt increased substantially, doubling to ₹1,143.8 crore in FY26 from ₹551.4 crore in FY24. This is managed against a softening trend in the Enterprise Value (EV)-to-EBITDA multiple, which moderated to 21.6 times in FY26 from 36.1 times in FY24.
The overall picture suggests that while the IPO valuation may appear high, it is reflective of the company's potential to capitalize on supply chain automation. Given these factors and its current business scale, investors who possess a higher-risk appetite may view this offering as a strategic long-term investment play.
