Kalyani Strategic Systems and AM General Partner to Develop Mounted Artillery Gun Systems for Global Armies

Kalyani Strategic Systems Limited (KSSL), the defense subsidiary of Bharat Forge Limited, has entered into a strategic partnership with AM General, a leading military vehicle mobile defense capabilities provider. The alliance was announced at the Eurosatory defense exposition, addressing the needs of modern armies worldwide in evolving combat scenarios.

The strategic collaboration aims to equip global militaries with compact, robust, light weight, ruggedized, mobile, all weather, all terrain Next-Gen Mounted Artillery gun platforms, providing a distinct competitive advantage. The partnership is designed to support broader allied distribution, positioning the platform as a scalable and exportable artillery solution for partner nations seeking modern and survivable 155mm fire capability.

Leveraging this cooperation, AM General has submitted a proposal to participate in the U.S. Army Mobile Tactical Cannon (MTC) program. This proposal involves the development and delivery of a 155mm MTC solution based on KSSL's mature combat-relevant architecture. If selected, delivery of this system is planned for 2027.

Focus on Advanced Military Firepower

The MARG system is designed to deliver tactical mobility and strategic transportability through the combination of a lighter gross vehicle weight rating, purpose-built powerpack, and advanced suspension. The system features a patented Soft Recoil Technology (SRT) Recoil Mitigation system, an automated load-assist function, and an advanced all-weather fire control suite that enables both indirect and direct fire capabilities.

The specifications of the artillery gun platform are as follows:

FeatureSpecification
Caliber52-Caliber 155mm Cannon
Range CapabilityOver 40 Kilometers
Payload CapacityOver 20 projectiles and propellant charges on-board
Recoil MitigationUtilizes SRT to absorb significant recoil force, enabling a lighter vehicle and turret design.

Mr. Amit Kalyani, Vice Chairman and Joint Managing Director of Bharat Forge Ltd., stated that the partnership with AM General confirms their trust in KSSL's advanced artillery capabilities and their commitment to delivering combat-proven solutions that meet modern warfare requirements.

John Chadbourne, President and CEO of AM General, commented that working with KSSL reflects a mutual dedication to supporting allies and the Warfighter.
