Operational Insights and Capacity Utilization

The company highlighted several factors influencing the quarter’s output, including a shutdown for capacity upgrades at Blast Furnace 3 (BF3) in Vijayanagar. BF3 began hot-metal production on June 23, 2026, and its downtime impacted the consolidated growth rate for the quarter.

Despite this setback, JSW Steel noted that if the impact of BF3 from the previous year’s base was excluded, Q1 FY27 volumes increased by approximately 15% year-on-year. This growth was attributed to the full ramp-up of Joint Venture Manufacturing Ltd (JVML) operations and improved utilization at the Dolvi Unit.

The capacity utilization rate for Indian operations in Q1 FY27 was reported to be around 94%, excluding the BF3 capacity that was under shutdown for upgrades.

It is noted that production figures have been adjusted due to the transfer of the steel business undertaking from Bhushan Power and Steel Limited (BPSL), a subsidiary, which was transferred on a slump-sale basis to JSW-JFE Steel Limited (a JV company) in March 2026.
