India's Tech Edge: BRICS CCI Meeting Sparks Focus on Global Innovation in Space and Biotechnology​

A delegation from the BRICS Chamber of Commerce & Industry (BRICS CCI) met with Union Minister of State for Science & Technology, Dr. Jitendra Singh, to strengthen industry-led global engagement across the BRICS and BRICS Plus ecosystem. The discussion focused intently on leveraging innovation, StartUps, and emerging technologies for collaborative growth between member countries.

The meeting saw representatives from the BRICS CCI, led by Mr. Sameep Shastri, discuss ways to bolster cross-border collaboration. They briefed the Minister on the Chamber’s decade-long initiatives aimed at promoting trade facilitation and B2B engagement across member nations.

Ministerial Vision: Positioning India as a Global Innovation Hub​

Dr. Jitendra Singh emphasized that India's rising stature as a global innovation hub provides immense opportunities for industry organizations. He stated that these organizations must build stronger international partnerships to contribute meaningfully to both national and global development agendas.

The Minister stressed the need for institutions operating within the BRICS space to create a distinct value proposition. This means moving beyond conventional networking platforms and focusing on deep knowledge, substantive innovation, and meaningful partnerships.

Referring to India's rapidly expanding ecosystem, Dr. Singh highlighted significant progress in critical high-growth sectors. He pointed out that the nation has achieved notable advancements in Space, Biotechnology, Artificial Intelligence (AI), Nuclear Energy, and Deep Technology.

The Minister noted that reforms introduced over the past decade have transformed these areas into powerful engines for entrepreneurship and economic growth. This presents multiple opportunities for collaboration involving academia, government, industry, and innovators alike.

Defining Paths for Collaborative Growth​

Dr. Jitendra Singh encouraged BRICS CCI to deepen its engagement through targeted sector-specific meetings and innovation forums. He stressed that sustained visibility and knowledge-based contributions are vital for strengthening the Chamber's role in advancing India’s engagement with the BRICS ecosystem.

The Minister specifically invited the delegation to identify focused areas of cooperation aligned with India's scientific priorities. Domains such as biotechnology, space technologies, startups, innovation ecosystems, and public-private partnerships were identified as offering immense potential for mutually beneficial collaboration.
