Gadkari Mandates Quality Surge: Minister Reviews Thousands of KM of National Highways in Jharkhand and Uttarakhand​

Scope of Union Minister's Highway Review​

Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Shri Nitin Gadkari, undertook comprehensive reviews concerning the quality, maintenance, and ongoing progress of critical national highway projects. These reviews covered significant segments across two key states: 3,245 km of National Highways in Jharkhand and 4,026 km of National Highway Projects in Uttarakhand.

The ministerial meetings were held in New Delhi, based on feedback gathered through media reports and social media platforms. The review process involved multiple high-level stakeholders from the infrastructure ecosystem. Present during the meetings was Minister of State for Road Transport and Highways, Shri Ajay Tamta, alongside senior officials representing MoRTH, NHAI, NHIDCL, and concerned project contractors.

Elevating Standards: Focus on Quality and Technology Adoption​

Shri Gadkari emphasized a zero-compromise approach towards infrastructure quality during the reviews. He stressed that timely execution of ongoing maintenance works is paramount for ensuring seamless connectivity across vital transportation corridors.

The Minister directed all involved stakeholders to aggressively accelerate ground-level project execution. A major focus was placed on strengthening quality monitoring processes and substantially improving riding quality standards nationwide.

Furthermore, Shri Gadkari highlighted the necessity for wider adoption of modern construction technologies. The infrastructure ministry is pushing for these advanced techniques to develop sustainable and highly efficient national highway networks.

Monsoon Preparedness Ensures Infrastructure Resilience​

Recognizing the challenges posed by seasonal weather patterns, the Union Minister issued strict instructions regarding proactive disaster preparedness. Comprehensive readiness measures must be undertaken immediately across all projects.

Officials were directed to implement robust strategies focusing on effective drainage management and advanced slope protection mechanisms. Preventive maintenance is crucial for minimizing disruptions that could otherwise impact commuter safety and economic movement.

The ministry stressed that timely intervention and highly coordinated action are essential components of infrastructure longevity. By ensuring these measures are in place, the long-term durability and resilience of National Highway infrastructure will be significantly enhanced.
