Mumbai, March 11: Bharat Forge’s aerospace division has inaugurated a new landing gear components machining facility in Mundhwa, Pune, in collaboration with Liebherr Aerospace & Transportation SAS, headquartered in Toulouse, France.The company said the facility represents a significant step toward strengthening India’s aerospace manufacturing ecosystem and enhancing the country’s participation in global aerospace supply chains.
Advanced Machining Capabilities for High Precision Components
The new facility integrates advanced machining centres dedicated to the production of high precision landing gear components. With this development, Bharat Forge becomes one of the first companies in India, and among the first at scale, to operate original equipment manufacturer approved machining capabilities for landing gear components.The move expands Bharat Forge’s capabilities in manufacturing critical aerospace parts that meet the stringent standards required by global aviation manufacturers.
Strategic Partnership to Support Long Term Industry Growth
Amit Kalyani, Vice Chairman and Joint Managing Director of Bharat Forge, said the strategic partnership with Liebherr Aerospace is aimed at creating a strong foundation for India’s manufacturing sector to achieve sustainable growth over the long term.He added that the collaboration supports the development of advanced aerospace manufacturing capabilities within the country.
Full Stack Aerospace Manufacturing Portfolio
Following the inauguration of the new facility, Bharat Forge now operates a full stack aerospace manufacturing portfolio. The company’s capabilities now span aero engine components, airframe structures, and landing gear sub systems catering to both civil and military aviation.Martin Wandel, Managing Director and Chief Operating Officer of Liebherr Aerospace & Transportation SAS, said the partners are jointly building a facility designed specifically to meet the requirements of the global aerospace industry.
