Indigenous Defence Tech Boost: MoD Inks Deal for Advanced GNSS Jammers

The Ministry of Defence (MoD) has finalized a significant contract deal to bolster the military capabilities of the Indian Navy. Accord Software and Systems Private Limited (ASSPL), based in Bengaluru, has been awarded a contract worth Rs 449 crore. This procurement involves providing 20 Enhanced Capability Global Navigation Satellite System (ECGNSS) Jammers.

The agreement was officially inked on June 10, 2026, in New Delhi, attended by Defence Secretary Shri Rajesh Kumar Singh. The transaction falls under the Buy category, reinforcing critical aspects of India’s military self-reliance agenda.

Strengthening Maritime Security with Advanced Countermeasure Systems

This contract directly addresses the growing need for robust maritime security in a complex operational environment. The indigenous system is designed to provide essential protection against sophisticated electronic threats. It ensures that naval assets can maintain safe and effective operations regardless of external disruptions.

The capability provided by these jammers is highly specialized. They are specifically engineered to degrade an adversary’s ability to acquire and track satellite signals. Furthermore, the equipment offers countermeasures against signal spoofing or deceptive jamming tactics.

Aatmanirbhar Bharat Commitment Reinforced by High-Tech Procurement

The contract stands as a powerful endorsement of the Aatmanirbhar Bharat and Make-in-India initiatives within the defense sector. It signifies a major milestone in indigenizing advanced military technology for national security purposes.

ASSPL’s successful execution of this contract underlines the domestic readiness to produce sophisticated military hardware. The mandate requires a minimum of 75% indigenous content, ensuring deep integration of local innovation into critical naval defence infrastructure.
